Barrier-free environment in public transport: monitoring conducted in the city of Navoi

A monitoring study was conducted to assess the conditions created for barrier-free mobility for persons with disabilities in public transport and transport infrastructure. The monitoring was carried out in cooperation with the Navoi regional branch of the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Uzbekistan, the regional department of the Social Inspection, and the territorial department of the Transport Inspection of Navoi region.

The monitoring was conducted on public transport routes passing along Islam Karimov Street in the city of Navoi and through the Gul Bozor bus stop. During the monitoring, the conditions created for people with limited mobility and persons with disabilities were comprehensively analyzed.

In particular, the conditions for boarding and alighting from public transport, facilities created in transport vehicles, compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards, the availability of special seats, as well as the presence and proper functioning of audio announcement systems were examined.
