Today, with the personal initiative of the head of our state, major changes are being implemented in the sector to fully meet the needs of the population in public transport and expand its coverage.

In recent years, public transport in our country has transformed from the most criticized sector to a system that has undergone major reforms and significant innovations in a short time.

In order to improve the quality of transport services provided to the population in the regions and organize convenient and safe transportation for passengers, a total of 744 new buses and 344 minibuses were purchased across the republic in January-September of this year. 1 new bus station, 6 bus stations, and 290 intermediate stops were built and put into operation. An automated payment system was introduced in public transport in the central cities of the regions, and the level of use of the electronic payment system was brought to an average of 40 percent.

In general, the development of the public transport system in the capital city of Tashkent and the regions in all respects contributes to its popularity among the population. In order to ensure the continuity of positive changes in the sector, to properly organize work in the regions, the Department of Automobile and Public Transport of the Ministry of Transport organized a traveling seminar in Tashkent to exchange experiences of heads of regional transport departments and to familiarize themselves with the positive results of systemic reforms in the sector.

Initially, the seminar participants got acquainted with the activities of the state institution "Monitoring and Control of Passenger Transportation" of Tashkent. After that, the experience of the "8th Bus Palace" branch of "Tashshahartranshizmat" JSC in organizing daily routes for buses and electric buses, ensuring the continuity of trips, monitoring the technical and sanitary condition of the rolling stock, and providing quality service to passengers was studied.

In the second half of the day, the seminar participants got acquainted with the work on the development of road networks and transport infrastructure in Tashkent to eliminate traffic jams. In particular, Olloyor Norbutayev, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Tashkent, provided detailed information on the reconstruction work carried out on Shota Rustavelli Street in the Yakkasaroy district of our capital, and the operation of the BRT system, which is allocated in the center of the street for bus traffic based on modern solutions.

This is a new concept not only for our capital city, Tashkent, but also for our entire republic, developed based on the advanced experience of the USA, Europe and China. The BRT system gives priority to bus traffic, speeds up the flow of traffic and, most importantly, reduces dependence on private cars. This reduces the environmental load of the city, increases road safety and saves time. As a result of the establishment of the BRT system on this street, the speed of movement has increased from 23 km/h to 30 km/h, the daily throughput has increased to 40,000 cars per day, and the number of passengers has increased from 2,500 to 6,000 people per hour.

After that, a presentation was held at the Tashkent City Transport Department on the work being carried out to organize public transport routes covering the capital and adjacent areas.
